Commanding Officer, Marine Corps Security Force Battalion
Colonel Michael B. Weber

Colonel Michael B. Weber is a native of St. Germain, WI. He is a 1996 graduate of the University of Wisconsin with a BA in English Literature. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in April 1999. He completed The Basic School in September 1999.

Second Lieutenant Weber reported to Fort Sill, Oklahoma where he attended the Field Artillery Officer Basic Course from September 1999 to March 2000. After graduation, he was assigned to 1st Marine Division at Camp Pendleton, CA. He reported to 2d Battalion, 11th Marines for duty from April 2000 to September 2003. During that time, he served as a Forward Observer; Artillery Liaison Officer to 2d Battalion, 5th Marines; Battery Fire Direction Officer; and Battery Executive Officer. He participated in numerous battalion level training exercises, deployed with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, and deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. 1st Lieutenant Weber was promoted to Captain in July 2003.

In September 2003, Captain Weber received orders to Weapons Training Battalion at Marine Corps Base Quantico (MCBQ), VA and served as the Officer in Charge, High-Risk Personnel Course. In April 2005, Captain Weber was selected to be the Aide de Camp to the Deputy Commanding General, Marine Corps Combat Development Command (MCCDC). He served in that role until May 2006 when he reported to the Marine Air Ground Task Force (MAGTF) Intelligence Officer Course (MIOC) for training. Upon graduation from MIOC in August 2006, he returned to MCCDC and served in Intelligence Integration Division until May 2007 when he reported to 2d Marine Division for duty.

From May 2007 to October 2008, Captain Weber served as 2d Reconnaissance Battalion Intelligence Officer and Headquarters and Service Company Commander in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in al Anbar Province, Iraq. In October 2008, Captain Weber reported to 2d Marine Division G-2 and served as the Intelligence Operations Officer. In January 2009, Captain Weber reported to 2d Marine Expeditionary Brigade to conduct Afghanistan pre-deployment training. From April 2009 to April 2010, he deployed with Marine Expeditionary Brigade – Afghanistan to Helmand Province as the Target Intelligence Officer and Intelligence Operations Officer. In July 2009, he was promoted to Major.

Upon re-deployment, in August 2010 Major Weber reported to Joint Special Operations Command at Fort Bragg, NC.

Major Weber was selected for resident Professional Military Education (PME) and in July 2013 he reported to Marine Corps Command and Staff College at MCBQ, VA. During Command and Staff College, Major Weber was selected for the School of Advanced Warfighting (SAW) at MCBQ. From June 2014 to June 2015, Major Weber completed the SAW curriculum. Upon graduation, he reported to U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Pacific at Camp Smith, HI for duty as an MAGTF Planner, Future Operations Officer, and Intelligence Operations Officer. In June 2016, he was promoted to his current rank.

LtCol Weber was again selected for resident PME and in July 2019, he reported to Air University at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, AL as a student at Air War College.  LtCol Weber assumed command of Marine Corps Security Force Battalion, Kings Bay, GA on 12 June 2020.

Colonel Weber’s personal decorations include the Bronze Star, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two gold stars, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with three stars, the Combat Action Ribbon and Airborne Parachutist qualification. He is also the recipient of the Donald G. Cook Award. Colonel Weber is married to the former Kathleen O’Shea of Perth, Western Australia.
