Marine Corps Security Force Regiment

LtCol Fenton is a 2006 graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University commissioning through the Reserve Officer Training Corps program. He attended The Basic School in the fall of 2006 and completed Infantry Officer Course in the summer of 2007. 

His first assignment was rifle platoon commander, Company E, 2d Battalion, 7th Marines located in Twentynine Palms, California. He completed a deployment in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM in 2008 before taking over as the Company E Executive Officer. While Company XO he completed an additional deployment in support of the 31st MEU in 2010.

LtCol Fenton received orders to Norfolk, Virginia apart of Marine Security Force Regiment (MCSFR) from 2010-2014 where he served as the Close Quarters Battle OIC, Fleet Antiterrorism Security Team Platoon Commander and Training Company Operations Officer. He deployed to the Central Command Area of Operation and supported the reinforcement of US Embassy Sana'a Yemen in 2013.
Following his tour at MCSFR, he attended Maneuver Captain Career Course in Ft Benning Georgia before receiving subsequent assignment to 1st Battalion, 7th Marines in Twentynine Palms, California in the fall of 2014. From 2014 to 2016 he served as the Headquarters & Service Company and Weapons Company Commander where he deployed in support of Operation INHERENT RESOLVE.

After his time at 1st Battalion 7th Marines, LtCol Fenton was assigned back to MCSFR where he took command of Fleet Antiterrorism Security Team Company B from 2016 to 2019. He transitioned in 2019 to Quantico, Virginia as a student at Marine Corps Command and Staff College.

In 2020 LtCol Fenton received orders to 1st Marine Regiment in Oceanside, California where he served as the Current Operations Officer for the regiment. A year later he was reassigned as the Battalion Executive Officer for 3d Battalion, 1st Marines. In the summer of 2022, he again received orders back to MCSFR to serve as the Regimental Operations Officer through 2023 until taking over as the Regimental Executive Officer.

LtCol Fenton holds a Bachelor of Arts in the Science of Food, Nutrition and Exercise from Virginia Tech and a Master of Military Studies from the Marine Corps University. His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal 4th award, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and the Combat Action Ribbon. He was also awarded an Army Achievement Medal while attending MCCC for winning the Iron Mike competition for his class.
