Lieutenant Colonel Moeller graduated from the United States Naval Academy with a degree in Systems Engineering and was
commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in May 2007.
Upon completion of The Basic School and the Infantry Officer's Course in April 2008, he reported to 3d Battalion, 1st Marines as a
Rifle Platoon Commander with India Company. As a platoon commander, he deployed on the 31st MEU to Okinawa, Japan, the
Philippines, and South Korea. In February 2009, he assumed the billet of Executive Officer of India Company. After an extensive
work-up, the battalion deployed in April 2010 to the Garmsir district of Helmand Province, Afghanistan where the company conducted
combat operations and executed a counter-insurgency mission.
Lieutenant Colonel Moeller reported to Marine Corps Security Force Regiment, Camp Allen, Virginia in April 2011 and was assigned
to Charlie Fleet Anti-Terrorism Security Team (FAST) Company as a Platoon Commander. In June 2012 he deployed to Guantanamo
Bay, Cuba and executed the fenceline security mission. In January 2013 he deployed to FAST Company, Central Command supporting
the Commander, US Naval Forces Central Command, until August 2013. In July 2014, he reported to the US Army Maneuver Captain's
Career Course as a student for professional military education.
In January 2015, Lieutenant Colonel Moeller reported to 3d Battalion, 7th Marines as the Assistant Operations Officer and deployed in
March 2015 on the Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force - Crisis Response - Central Command 15.2. While deployed, he
assumed command of Weapons Company and established a remote operating base in central Iraq in support of Operation Inherent
Resolve. In November 2015 he assumed command of Kilo Company, 3d Battalion, 7th Marines. In September 2016, he deployed with
Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force - Crisis Response - Central Command 17.1 to Baghdad, Iraq where he coordinated with
senior State Department Officials as the security force commander aboard the US Embassy, Baghdad, Iraq.
In June of 2017 Lieutenant Colonel Moeller was promoted to Major and reported to the Naval Postgraduate School to complete the
academic work required for a Masters Degree in Operations Research. In June 2019 he completed his thesis, graduated from the
Postgraduate school, and reported to Manpower and Reserve Affairs to serve as an analyst within the Manpower Plans, Programs, and
Budget Branch (MPP-40), focusing on future manpower planning and budget requirements. In May of 2021, he reported to 1st
Battalion, 7th Marines to serve as the Executive Officer and immediately deployed to Darwin, Australia in support of the Marine
Rotational Force - Darwin 21.2. In June 2022 he reported to the Tactical Training and Exercise Control Group to serve as as Deputy
Director and supporting Marine Corps Service Level Training Exercises as part of MAGTF Training Command.
Lieutenant Colonel Moeller assumed command of Marine Corps Security Force Battalion, Kings Bay, Georgia on 20 June 2024.
Lieutenant Colonel Moeller's personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal with two gold stars, the Navy and Marine Corps
Commendation Medal with two gold stars, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
