Lieutenant Colonel Keith I. Toucey was commissioned a Second Lieutenant through OCC in March 2008. In January 2009, after completing the Basic Officer’s Course and the Infantry Officer’s Course at The Basic School in Quantico, VA, he reported to 1st Battalion, 3d Marines in Kaneohe Bay, HI.
From January 2009 to July 2010, May 2012, he served as a CAAT Platoon Commander and the Weapons Company Executive Officer. He deployed twice with the battalion to Helmand Province, Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom.
From 2012 – 2014, LtCol Toucey was assigned to II MEF Special Operations Training Group, later redesignated Expeditionary Operations Training Group. While there, he served as the Assistant Operations Officer and the Assistant Officer-in-Charge for the Amphibious Raids Branch. As such, he supported a pre-deployment training program for each of the II MEF’s MEUs.
Following his attendance at the US Army’s Maneuver Captain’s Career Course in 2015, he was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 2d Marines at Camp Lejeune, NC. While there, he served as the Assistant Operations Officer and Kilo Company Commander. As the company commander, he deployed once in support of the Unit Deployment Program to Okinawa, Japan.
After his company command time, LtCol Toucey was assigned to Marine Corps Security Force Battalion, Kings Bay from 2017-2020. While there, he served as the Assistant Operations officer and the Operations Officer.
From 2020-2021, LtCol Toucey served in the National Capital Region aboard Marine Corps Base, Quantico. There he attended the Marine Corps Command and Staff College.
From 2021-2023, LtCol Toucey served as the Executive Officer for 1st Battalion, 8th Marines, 6th Marine Regiment. During this time, he also completed an individual deployment as the Chief of Operations for a SOCOM Task Force in the U.S. Central Command’s area of responsibility.
Following his return from deployment, LtCol Toucey reported to the Marine Corps Security Force Regiment in Yorktown, Va. There, he currently serves as the Operations Officer and the Officer-in-Charge for the newly formed Fleet Antiterrorism Security Team (FAST) Battalion.
LtCol Toucey graduated from the Florida State University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminology. He also obtained a Master of Arts in Defense and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College in 2020 and a Master of Military Studies degree from the Marine Corps Command and Staff College in 2021. His other formal schools include: The Basic School (2008), the Infantry Officers Course (2008), the Army’s Maneuver Captain’s Career Course (2015), and the Marine Corps Command and Staff College (2021).
LtCol Toucey’s personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with one gold star, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two gold stars, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with the combat “V”, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
