FIRST SERGEANT, COMPANY
First Sergeant Yovanni A. Toledo

First Sergeant Yovanni A. Toledo, originally from Atlanta, Georgia, began his Marine Corps career with Kilo Company, Third Recruit Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina. Upon graduating in February 2008, he was meritoriously promoted to Private First Class. He then attended Marine Combat Training at Camp Geiger, North Carolina, and subsequently graduated from the Marine Corps Integrated Maintenance Management School at Camp Johnson, North Carolina.

In July 2008, he reported to Second Air-Naval Gunfire Liaison Company, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, where he served as a Maintenance Management Clerk. He was promoted to Lance Corporal in October 2008, and in September 2010 was meritoriously promoted to Corporal, assuming the billet of Maintenance Management Chief. From November 2010 to June 2011, he deployed with Second ANGLICO in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan, serving as the Maintenance Management Chief (Forward). During this deployment, he was promoted to Sergeant in April 2011.

Following his deployment, Sergeant Toledo was assigned to Blount Island Command, Jacksonville, Florida, as the Maintenance Cycle Chief. During this tour, he deployed on five separate occasions in support of Maritime Prepositioning Force operations and quality assurance inspections. In September 2013, he deployed to Diego Garcia with Maritime Prepositioning Squadron Two. In March 2014, he deployed to Guam in support of humanitarian efforts for the Republic of the Philippines. In January 2015, he deployed to Guam and Saipan as a Quality Assurance Inspector. In March 2015, he deployed to the Republic of the Philippines as the Maintenance Management Subject Matter Expert in support of Exercise Freedom Banner and Balikatan. In October 2015, he deployed again to Diego Garcia as a Quality Assurance Inspector.

In July 2016, he reported to Second Combat Engineer Battalion, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, where he served as the Maintenance Management Chief. He was promoted to Staff Sergeant in October 2016 and served in this billet until March 2018.

In March 2018, Staff Sergeant Toledo was selected for Special Duty Assignment as a Drill Instructor. He attended Drill Instructor School, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina, Class 3-18, and upon graduation, served with Kilo Company, Third Recruit Training Battalion, as a Drill Instructor and later as a Senior Drill Instructor from July 2018 to December 2019. After completing his Senior Drill Instructor cycle, he was hand-selected to join the Drill Instructor School staff as a Squad Instructor. He was promoted to Gunnery Sergeant in February 2021 and, during his tour, directly contributed to transforming more than 450 civilians into United States Marines and training more than 350 Marines to become Drill Instructors.

In August 2021, Gunnery Sergeant Toledo returned to Blount Island Command, Jacksonville, Florida, where he served as the Maintenance Management Chief and later as the Maintenance Management Officer. He deployed multiple times in support of the Marine Corps Prepositioning Program at various global sites. In January 2024, he was selected to serve as the Headquarters Company First Sergeant.

On July 1, 2025, Gunnery Sergeant Toledo was selected to First Sergeant. In August 2025, he reported to Marine Corps Security Forces Training Company, Chesapeake, Virginia, where he currently serves as the Senior Enlisted Leader.

His personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Gold Star in lieu of second award, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with two Gold Stars in lieu of third award, the Combat Action Ribbon, and the Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.
