Sergeant Major Marc R. Chabot attended recruit training in July 1993 at Parris Island, SC. Upon graduation he reported to the School of Infantry, Marine Combat Training, at Camp Geiger, NC. Upon completion, Sergeant Major Chabot reported to Assault Amphibian Schools Battalion in Camp Pendleton, CA and received the military occupational specialty of 1833.
In March of 1994, Sergeant Major Chabot received orders to 2nd Assault Amphibian Battalion Camp Lejeune, NC. During this tour he completed three deployments with the 24th MEU. In 1995 he was attached to Battalion Landing Team (BLT) 3/8 and served as crewman and crew chief. In 1996 he was attached to BLT 2/8 and served as crew chief. In 1997 he was attached to BLT 3/6 and served as section leader.
In September of 1998, Sergeant Major Chabot received orders to Advanced Assault Amphibian Vehicle Program Office in Woodbridge, VA. He was a member of a prototype test team that performed waterborne, land and weapons station testing.
In July of 2002, Sergeant Major Chabot received orders to 2nd Assault Amphibian Battalion Camp Lejeune, NC. In January of 2003 he deployed with Alpha Company in support of 1st Battalion 2nd Marines, 2nd MEB/Task Force Tarawa during Operation Iraqi Freedom I (OIF). In September of 2004 he deployed with Charlie Company in support of 1st Battalion 23rd Marines, RCT 7 during OIF II-2.
In July of 2005, Sergeant Major Chabot requested and received orders to Drill Instructor School, MCRD San Diego, CA. He was assigned to Company C, 1st Recruit Training Battalion where he served as Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor, and Series Chief Drill Instructor. In August of 2007, he was transferred to the Instructor Staff, Drill Instructor School, and served as a Squad Instructor and BWT Instructor. In January of 2008, he was frocked to First Sergeant and assigned to Company H.
In July of 2008, Sergeant Major Chabot received orders to 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion Camp Lejeune, NC. During October of 2009 he deployed as Company First Sergeant of Alpha Company in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) 9-2 with RCT 7. Upon his return he was reassigned to Engineer Support Company and deployed in support of OEF 11-1 with his battalion.
In January of 2012, Sergeant Major Chabot received orders and reported to Marine Combat Training Battalion, Camp Geiger NC. He served as the First Sergeant of Company G and Headquarters and Support Company. On 11 April 2013 he was frocked to his current rank and assigned as the Battalion Sergeant Major of Marine Corps Security Force Battalion, Kings Bay GA.
Sergeant Major Chabot attended the Sergeants Major Resident Course, Senior Enlisted Resident Course, First Sergeant’s Course, SNCO Advanced Course, Drill Instructor School, SNCO Career Course.
His personal decorations include the Bronze Star (with V), Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (with V and gold star in lieu of 4th award), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (gold star in lieu of 2nd award) and Combat Action Ribbon (gold star in lieu of 2nd award).
